Board Games

This project was not one of my favorites. The water colors are very hard to work with and get it to the color that I wanted it to be. I learned that more detail is better than less detail. The hardest part of this project was getting it to be the color that i wanted it to be. If I added a little water then hardly any of the color shows up. This project helped me shade and form colors into what i needed.

Statue of Liberty

For this image we used photoshop and used threshold to turn the photo to black and white. Then we printed the image and used a projector to cut out the stencil. Once we had the image on the stencil, we cut out the pieces that we wanted to be black. The background is pages out of a book. I would cut out paragraphs and just glue them to the back randomly. Then i chose a light color which turned out to be yellow. Because i used a light color as the background i decided to use a dark color as the actual image to show positve and negative space. Using the xacto knife was a little tricky because it did not turn corners well. We also had to always cut away from our hands and body to make sure that we did not cut ourselves.
My expierence with the spray paint was great. This was my favorite project because we got to use spray paint.

Flying Dolphin

The composition of this artwork is a dolphin jumping out of the water in front of a sunset. To add texture to the print, i added wavy lines for the waves in the water. I also added lines coming off of the sun for the rays of the sun.  To add contrast I cut out the belly of the dolphin so it would be more noticable. Both texture and contrast are important for a print because it helps the picture come to life and make it look more realistic. I used positive and negative space to show the outline and the shapes of the dolphin to make it stand out more. The project is decently technically crafted. I could have added more detail to the dolphin or to the ocean. I was able to show depth to the print making the dolphin bigger showing that it was closer and that it was jumping out of the water. I really liked doing this project. it was one of my favorite projects so far. Getting to cut out the print was the best part.

Print sketches

This is the original idea for my print sketch. It is a dolphin coming out of the water in front of a sun set. Texture is important in our sketches so that we can translate them into the final project we have to do. If we do not add texture at the beginning, we might forget what the texture is suppose to look like exactly. It is important to have several references of our animals and backgrounds so we can have different angles of our animals and the backgrounds. If we just have one angle of our animal, we might forget to add something to the picture so it is important to have multiple references to look back at. It is neccessary to have multiple backgrounds so we can decide which one we want to incorporate in our projects. When looking at my sketches I could tell which one would make the strongest print. Some of my other ideas would not work because of the patterns on the animal or other aspects that would be needed to make the print of a different animal.
